This course is equivalent to a 1st semester college-level course. Students will learn the fundamentals of computer programming while preparing for the high school AP JAVA exam, or the Oracle Level 1 Certificate exam.
The course will introduce students to software engineering and object-oriented programming using the Java programming language. Key topics include using code to solve problems, understanding code logic, organizing data and using algorithms to process data, and the ethical use of computing systems.
WHO: This is a women only class for high school students in grades 11-12, college students, and adults.
WHEN: Sundays 10:00a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Office hours are available for student support
DATES: October 30 – May 28. No sessions during midwinter break, January 15 – 22 and Pesach, April 2 – 16.
COST: $300 for adults and college students. 11th-12th graders in one of the community high schools only pay the $75 lab fee.
