Junior Science Explorers – Grades N-K

Sundays, 10:00-11:00am and 1:45-2:45pm

Introduce young minds to the excitement of science, while developing critical thinking skills and curiosity.

Junior Math Explorers – Grades N-K

Sundays, 11:15am-12:15pm or 3:00-4:00pm

Discover the world of math, while developing number skills through hands-on projects and games.

Young Science Explorers – Grades 1-3

Fuse fun and learning with a wide range of engaging topics and experiments in our real science lab.

Math Builders – Grades 1-2

Sundays, Girls:11:15am-12:15pm, Boys: 3:00-4:00pm

Load up your tool belt and get building with hands-on projects to enhance addition and subtraction skills through real-life problem solving.

 

Grades 4-8

Advanced Science Explorers – Grades 4-6

Sundays, Girls: 12:30-1:30pm, Boys: 3:00-4:00pm

Make amazing science discoveries at a new level, encompassing a breadth of mind-blowing concepts.

Lifecycles – Grades 4-6

Sundays, Girls: 11:15am-12:15pm, Boys: 1:45-2:45pm

Fall: Study hamster habitats, diet, and behaviors, and design mazes and other challenges to explore their cognitive abilities. Oct. 15–Dec. 3

Winter: Discover the fascinating world of fungi and their unique life cycles while growing mushrooms from mycelium to maturity. Dec.24–Feb. 18

Spring: Experience the wonder of hatching and raising ducklings, observing their biology, development, and daily needs as they grow. Mar.3–Jun. 7

After-School Science – Grades 4-8

Mondays & Wednesdays, Girls: 4:45-5:45pm,          Boys: 6:00-7:00pm

Fall: Journey through the incredible systems of the human body while gaining valuable knowledge about health and nutrition. Sept. 6Nov. 30

Winter: Discover the science of electricity and magnets while recreating your own electronic devices like flashlights, motors, generators, and more! Dec.18–Feb. 29

Spring: Build and experiment with gliders, rockets, remote control drones, and more, as you recreate fascinating inventions of flight. Mar. 11–Jun. 6

After-School 3D Printing – Grades 4-8

Girls: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:45-5:45pm
Boys: Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm

Imagine, design, and create amazing models, inventions, art, and toys with engineering and CAD design.

Fall: Sept. 6–Nov. 30; Winter: Dec. 18–Feb. 29; Spring: Mar. 11–Jun. 6

After-School Coding – Grades 4-8

Girls: Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:45-5:45pm

Boys: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:45-5:45pm – Level 1 – via Zoom

          Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:00-7:00pm – Level 2

Master coding basics through animations and games, using Python and Java languages. Levels 1 or 2.

Fall: Sept. 6–Nov. 30; Winter: Dec. 18–Feb. 29; Spring: Mar. 11–Jun. 6

Making Math – Grades 5-6

Tuesdays & Thursdays, Girls: 4:45-5:45pm,  Boys: 6:00-7:00pm

Build, explore, and experiment with a variety of fraction games, activities, and challenges.

Woodshop – Boys – Grades 5-8

Beginner/Intermediate: Mon, Tues, or Thurs 5:30-6:15pm
Advanced: Wednesdays 5:30-6:15pm (instructor’s recommendation required)

Learn basic woodworking techniques using hand tools to create custom projects under the guidance of our expert carpenter.

Fall: Sept. 6–Nov. 30; Winter: Dec. 18–Feb. 29; Spring: Mar. 11–Jun. 6

 

High School and Adults 

Young Jewish Innovators Challenge – Grades 9-10

Use creative thinking and problem solving skills to seek solutions to real-life issues and compete against other young women in Chicago Jewish high schools. Oct. 18–Feb. 1

Jerusalem Science Contest – Grades 11-12

Explore the fascinating world of Neuroscience and its Jewish relevance with this international science and Torah contest. Winners receive prize money and a trip to Israel! Oct.18–Feb.12

Summer School – Grades 9-12

Spend the summer getting ahead or making up a course with qualified teachers.

Offerings include English, math, science, history, CAD, Computer Science, and ACT/SAT prep.

Monday, Jul. 1–Friday, Aug. 8, morning and afternoon options available

Java Coding – Grades 11-12 & Adults

Learn the fundamentals of computer programming while preparing for the high school AP Java exam or the Oracle Level 1 Certificate exam.

Oct 15 –  Dec 3

CAD: 3D Printing and Design – Grades 11-12 & Adults

Learn to create 2D and 3D designs using industry-standard software. Bring your creations to life with our laser cutters and 3D printers.

End-of-Summer Maker Space and Science Camp – Grades 3-8

Boys: Monday, Aug. 14–Thursday, Aug. 17, 10:00am-12:30pm

Girls: Monday, Aug. 21–Thursday, Aug. 24, 10:00am-12:30pm

Join Walder Science for a summer-themed one-week camp filled with exciting maker space and science activities. Experience a week of learning, creativity and fun!

Children’s Science Museum  

Experience wall-to-wall exhibits and interactive explorations including optical illusions, pulley power, live hatchery, and more! Dec 10, Mar.31., Apr.7, Jun 16 & 23.

Seasonal STEM Videos
